Workers Compensation Claims
Have you been injured at work or on the journey to or from your place of employment?
- If you answered yes, you may be entitled to workers compensation.
- What may you be entitled to? Depending on the circumstances of your injury, an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury can obtain the following for you: -
- A lump sum compensation figure to a maximum of $231,000.00 in respect of the impairments arising from the injuries sustained.
- A further lump sum figure to a maximum of $50,000.00 for the pain and suffering associated with the impairments sustained if a doctor assess you has having a 10% whole person impairment.
- Weekly payments in lieu of wages where you are unable to work or are working with restrictions. Currently the weekly rate is $389.10, which can be increased if it is shown that there are persons which are wholly or mainly dependent upon you. For instance, for a dependant spouse $102.60 and for a dependant child $73.30.*
Since the focus of workers compensation is return and reintegration into the workforce, if you are able to return to some form of work but are paid less than your pre-injury earnings, the Insurer will make up your pay to what it was pre-injury.
- Medical expenses.
- Up to six hours of home care per week.
- Travel expenses, being 55 cents per kilometre travelled to and from medical appointments with your nominated treating doctor and specialists.
- A lump sum compensation figure to a maximum of $231,000.00 in respect of the impairments arising from the injuries sustained.
